About Us
The Clallam County Bar Association is a nonprofit professional organization in Clallam County, Washington. Lawyers in Clallam County, on the north Olympic Peninsula, including Port Angeles, Sequim, and Forks, are members of the Clallam County Bar Association. These attorneys formed this local bar association to:
- Improve the administration of justice;
- Encourage the availability of legal services for all members of our community, regardless of the financial ability of the client or the popularity of the position;
- Promote professional competence and ethical conduct of lawyers;
- Increase public understanding of the legal system;
- Enhance
service to the members of the Association, including opportunities for
professional growth and satisfaction in practicing in the legal profession;
- Manage efficiently the work of the Association.
Membership
Membership in the Clallam County Bar Association is open to any person licensed to practice law by the Supreme Court of Washington who is a member in good standing of, or voluntarily inactive with, the Washington State Bar Association, who resides in Clallam County or maintains an office therein, and who is current in Clallam County Bar Association dues.
Membership dues are currently $50 per year ($30 per year for attorneys who have been in practice for less than three years). Membership dues should be paid by February 1st to ensure full participation in Clallam County Bar Association activities (like bar polls), although dues are accepted anytime.

Dues are not tax deductible.
If you would like a receipt, please provide an email address with your dues payment, or request a paper receipt. Questions about dues may be directed to the Bar President at clallamcountybar@gmail.com.
Legal Assistance
The Clallam County Bar Association does not provide referrals or represent clients.
The Washington State Bar Association maintains a directory of lawyers licensed to practice law in Washington, which can be searched by geographic location, area of practice, languages, and other fields.
Northwest Justice Project
The Northwest Justice Project provides a variety of resources at nwjustice.org/get-legal-help. You can also call the CLEAR hotline at 1-888-201-1014 (M-F 9:15 am to 12:15 pm).
Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers
CJCPBL provides legal assistance to low income residents of Clallam and Jefferson County. To request Pro Bono services you must first call the CLEAR Line. CALL CLEAR 1-888-201-1014 or visit their website at CJCPBL.org.

For many common legal issues in Washington, the best place to go for self-help resources is WashingtonLawHelp.org.
Public Libraries
The Clallam County Law Library, located in the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles, WA, has extensive legal research materials. It is open to the public at limited times due to volunteer staffing capacity. Public hours are posted on the library door, or inquire by leaving a message on the Law Library phone at (360) 417-2287. Books cannot be checked out by the public.
The North Olympic Library System and Peninsula College Library have general self-help legal resources, such as publications by NOLO Press, most of which can be checked out.
Self-help resources are not a substitute for the advice of a lawyer.
Clallam County Bar Events
The Clallam County Bar Association provides numerous educational and networking events throughout the year for its members, other lawyers, and legal workers. Events are free. For educational events, like Continuing Legal Education (CLE) courses, we ask for a donation that goes directly and entirely to Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers, which provides free legal assistance in Clallam and Jefferson Counties. Join the Listserv! The Clallam County Bar Association sends event announcements by email. If you are not on that email list, but are a lawyer or legal worker in Clallam County you can request to be added to the listserv at https://groups.google.com/g/clallam-county-bar-association or by emailing clallamcountybar@gmail.com.
